When I took my first trip to Boston, MA I was wandering around some very old cemeteries when I noticed the strange images on headstones from the 1600s-1800s. The images would reflect the religious/philosophical beliefs of people at the time, the age of a person at death and even a summary of the life they had lead. I thought it was beautiful so much could be said in one small, stone carved image.
